The things people do
Think of the last time you read a magazine article or a self-help book. Dorothy Smith discussed the idea of texts as the way society controls individuals, for example "magazine articles and books" (Allen, 2008, p. 486). Where you influenced by what you read? How did you react to it? Do you think you will question what you read from now on?

I have been reading the swine flu articles and have to say I am quite affected by them. I have been worrying a lot more than I usually do and have taken cautions with anti germ hand sanitizers, being much more careful with looking around people coughing and sneezing. I was also affected in the form that the article was written, I thought it was very cold and talked about people in an empty way as if treating them like a number not people.
ReplyDeleteI will question what I read fron now on, I will look at all the sources and make sure the news story is legit, although this swine flu influenza is.
